Melisa Olgun on Being a First-Generation College Student

Melisa Olgun, a first-generation college student whose parents immigrated from Turkey, shares her path to college, how she came to pursue a career in medicine, and how Wesleyan supports its first-generation and low-income students. “Yes, I’m first-generation and low-income, but I’m also a scientist, I’m a musician, I’m Muslim,” she says. “I’m all of these different labels that come together.”
