Pamela Z at Wesleyan

3:37

Pamela Z was a Creative Campus Fellow in Music at Wesleyan University's Center for the Arts during the 2016-2017 academic year. Her fellowship focused on the creation of Correspondence, a commissioned immersive ensemble work that teases apart the history of personal communication, from hand-written letters and telegraphs to electronic messaging and video chats. Composed for voice and electronics, sampled speech, gesture-controlled MIDI instruments, projected image, chorus, and a chamber ensemble of viola, bassoon, percussion, and typewriters, Correspondence debuted as a work in progress on March 9, 2017 in Ring Family Performing Arts Hall. During the fellowship, Pamela Z partnered with faculty, staff, and students at Wesleyan’s Special Collections and Archives, and the Music Department, in particular the Toneburst Laptop and Electronic Arts Ensemble and the Concert Choir. She also taught a module in Assistant Professor of Psychology, Integrative Sciences, and Neuroscience and Behavior Psyche Loui's MIND (Music, Imagine, and Neural Dynamics) Laboratory.
