The Big Drop 2022

0:32

Who doesn’t like watching random stuff dropped off tall buildings? The Wesleyan Mathematics and Science Scholars (WesMaSS) and the Free Radicals, hosted the “Big Drop” on May 5, 2022, a recreation of Galileo's famous experiment where he dropped balls of various sizes from the Leaning Tower of Pisa in 1589. Students, faculty, and staff gather outside of the Exley Science Center to observe a bunch of smashable items — including water balloons, bouncy balls, watermelon, apples, pineapple, discarded computer equipment, and plastic — plummet from the Exley rooftop 100 feet up.
