Dr. Carlton B. Barnswell '83, P'14 on Serving the Community
2:21
“There’s a lot of introspection at Wesleyan that really forces you to think about yourself and the rest of society, and how you fit in, and how you can make it better,” says Dr. Carlton B. Barnswell ’83, P’14, a urologist and national expert on prostate cancer. Carlton has been a principal investigator in many national and international clinical trials. He currently serves on two nonprofit boards and is a recipient of the United States Congressional Achievement Award for Community Service, a skill he says was nurtured at Wesleyan. “It’s typical of a Wesleyan student to think ‘What do we need?’ and ‘How can we make our community better?’”
