Sadia Shepard, Wesleyan ’97, is a documentary film producer and the author of The Girl From Foreign: A Memoir. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal Magazine and The New York Times. Her credits as a producer include The September Issue, an award-winning inside look at Vogue, and The Education of Mohammad Hussain, a portrait of a traditional Islamic school in Detroit, for HBO. She will be presenting her new documentary film series The Other Half of Tomorrow, which introduces us to the disparate contexts that make up Pakistan’s complex culture, and speaking about narrative strategies in writing and film. She is an MFA candidate in the Fiction program at Hunter College, where she teaches creative writing.
